I think black woman are created with some kind of automatic confidence booster. I'm not sure about how it is for other cultures, but in mine woman are always to to stand up for themselves. Lately, I have even heard the hip hop music culture embrace this notion. Ne-yo, my all time FAVORITE music artist wrote a song about an independent woman. It seems today that more black men are looking for "real" women who don't have to depend on a man.
In the song, Ne-yo talks about his love for a woman who can handle her own bills and her own life. He says, "She wants you, but doesn't need you."
Ne-yo also got together with former comedian and television star Jamie Foxx to create in the resent hit, "She Got Her own".
"I love her cause she got her own. She don't need mine, so she leave mine alone. There ain't nothing in this world sexy than a girl that want but don't need me. Young independent, yea she work hard, but you can tell from the way that she walk. She don't slow down cause she ain't got time to be complaining, shawty gon shine. She don't expect nothing from no guy. She plays aggressive, but she still shy, but you never know her softer side by lookin in her eyes. No way she can't do for herself. Makes me wanna give her my world"(Ne-yo, " She got Her Own")
